Statement
My work functions as a visual memoir in the form of oil paintings and prints, an investigation of my past as it relates to my present self. My imagery revolves around the themes of memory, self and home, usually appearing as images of places or things. I am fascinated with the strangeness of "between-ness”, of being nowhere and everywhere at once. In my work I strive to capture these feelings, as well as the odd and quiet moments of every day life in a very big, very loud world. In the studio, I work from observation and memory in tandem and am greatly enriched and influenced by sensory sources like music, language, film and food.
